Best Paper Award for IAEW research associates
At the International Conference IEEE PES ISGT Europe 2021 (ISGT Europe 2021), held online from Espoo, Finland from October 18th-21st, 2021, five RWTH Aachen researchers were honored with a Best Paper Award. Sandor Simon, Philipp Linnartz, Alexander Winkens (all IAEW), Sriram Gurumurthy and Professor Antonello Monti (ACS) convinced the jury with their paper on "Experimental measurement of frequency frequency-dependent component impedances of grid grid-forming inverters in islanded microgrids“.
The main content of the paper is a test setup for measuring the frequency-dependent impedance of grid-forming low-voltage inverters. The results confirm the successful experimental extraction of component impedances and show technical aspects and limitations that must be taken into account when using it.”
The IEEE PES ISGT Europe conference is one of the two IEEE PES flagship conferences organized in Europe and has established a strong reputation in the last years. It focuses on industrial and manufacturing theory and applications for the wide use of information and communication technologies and integrated renewable and distributed energy resources on the electric grid. This year’s conference theme was “ Smart Grids: Toward a Carbon-free Future”.
