Description of the project work
In the project "HVDC Test Bench", students in 4th semester learn about High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology and will examine a self-developed and built HVDC cable model in the Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop (PHiL) Test Bench of IAEW.
Through this methodically very diverse project, students gain experience of the typical procedure of a scientific investigation. At the same time, engineering knowledge is to be taught and deepened through practical application: After familiarisation with HVDC technology, the analysis and parameterisation of various HVDC cable models based on simulative investigations with Matlab/Simulink will take place. Subsequently, a scaled HVDC cable model is built in the electronics workshop and then tested in the PHiL Test Bench under realistic conditions. In a final presentation, different groups present their results. In this way, experience can be gained in both presentation and digital data evaluation.
