Student Assistant Jobs
Student Assistant (f/m/non-binary)
Our Profile
Three chairs cooperate in the Institute for High Voltage Equipment and Grids, Digitalization and Energy Economics (IAEW): The Chair for High Voltage Equipment and Technology (EAH), The Chair for Active Energy Distribution Grids (AEV) and the Chair for Transmission Grids and Energy Economics (UEW). The IAEW deals with the challenges of the energy transition from materials to components to the entire energy system. The following topics are currently in the focus of the respective chair:
Chair for High Voltage Equipment and Technology:
• Development and investigation of novel insulation materials in high voltage laboratories
• Design and analysis of innovative, environmentally friendly components for medium and high voltage grids of today and tomorrow
• Protection and control of future multi-terminal HVDC grids
Chair for Active Energy Distribution Grids:
• Planning and optimization of electricity, gas and heating networks in neighborhoods, rural regions and large cities
• Design of local energy and flexibility markets as well as charging concepts for electromobility
• Research and verification of digitization, resilience and cyber security concepts for smart grids in simulations and in distribution grid laboratory.
Chair for Transmission Grids and Energy Economics:
• Development of methods for planning and simulation of future energy systems and markets under consideration of sector coupling
• Investigations on security of supply and system stability
• Development of methods for steady-state and dynamic simulation of transmission system operation and planning
Research is performed in close cooperation with partners from industry, the energy sector and public authorities. We are looking for student assistants who are interested in getting to know and supporting the research areas at the institute.
If you are interested, please send us your application with the following information and documents:
• CV
• Table of records
• Preferred Chair and preferred topics
Your Profile
• Enrollment at a German university
• High interest in relevant research topics in electrical power engineering
• Open-mindedness and team spirit
• Good academic performance
Your Duties and Responsibilities
The IAEW offers the opportunity to participate in industry-related research projects with a wide range of topics. We offer a variety of tasks from the simulation of large energy systems to the assistance in high voltage laboratories. The exact topics and tasks vary depending on the project situation and chair and will be presented to you during a possible interview.
