Julian Saat, M.Sc., received the "Werner v. Siemens Award" of the IEEE PES Germany Chapter for his master thesis. Mr. Saat, who is part of the Active Energy Distribution Grids Department of the IAEW, wrote his thesis on a topic of high relevance in the context of the issues to be solved in the energy system transformation. The thesis is entitled "Simulation of the operation of hybrid AC/DC distribution networks under consideration of different control concepts" and deals especially with the optimization and control of these networks. Thereby, procedures for two levels of a hierarchical network control concept were developed. Due to the corona pandemic it is currently not yet determined when and within which framework the award will be handed over.
