Description of the lecture

The event will be divided into individual presentations addressing different aspects of the topic. The focus will be on:

  • Introduction to power cable technology and industry
  • Design and dimensioning of power cables
  • Cable accessories - functionality, field control, installation
  • Production and testing of power cables - material selection, production process
  • Project planning of cable routes - routing, current carrying capacity, transport and installation, commissioning
  • Operation of cable systems - monitoring, maintenance, faults and repair, lifetime management and decommissioning

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to

  • Identify typical power cable designs and explain the functionality of each individual component
  • Explain the requirements for cable accessories and their design
  • Understand production processes used in the manufacture of power cables
  • Describe the main steps in the design of cable trays
  • Discuss different aspects of cable tray operation

For a certificate of achievement, attendance at all event dates and passing a multiple-choice/open-question test is required.

The course is not graded and cannot be counted as a seminar for the purposes of the examination regulations.
