Otto Junker Award for Carolin Guntermann M.Sc.

Carolin Guntermann, research associate at IAEW, was awarded the Otto Junker Prize of the year 2021 in November. Professor Rüdiger, the Rector of RWTH Aachen University, presented the award in the Aula of RWTH Aachen University together with the Chairman of the Otto Junker Foundation, Mr. Udo vom Berg. Ms. Guntermann, who has already been awarded several prestigious prizes, receives the award for her outstanding achievements in her studies and her master thesis. During the event, she presented her master's thesis "Extension of an electricity market simulation by a flow-based market coupling method" in a short lecture to the guests present. Questions concerning the European market design are a central research topic at the Chair of Transmission Grids and Energy Economics. All IAEW staff members congratulate Ms. Guntermann on this special honor.

The Otto Junker Award is conferred annually to RWTH graduates of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and the Materials Science and Engineering Division of the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering.

The Otto Junker Foundation was established in 1970 by Dr. h.c.. Otto Junker. As an alumnus of RWTH, he felt connected to the university and valued scientific dialogue. The aim of the foundation is to support young scientists and numerous individual projects.
